About us

The Dorset Ginger Company was formed around 1985 by a local family butcher, Ivor Bishop,  whose products were sold locally and at various fairs.  In 2007 ownership transferred to Richard and Michelle and the business was relocated to its current premises in Lytchett Matravers. During these years Richard and Michelle added extra flavours to the range and the products were available nationally through a range of outlets supplied by several wholesalers. The products were also sold into Eastern Europe as the Company expanded.

In 2017 the business ownership changed to Nick and Timi, the current owners, and it was incorporated in February 2017.

Since 2017 we have received the SALSA accreditation mark, for food and safety standards, every year. The SALSA standard was written by experienced food safety experts to reflect both the legal requirements of producers and the enhanced expectations of ‘best practice’ of professional food buyers.
